Lots of residents in the Brunswick Street area are contacting us about cars speeding and wanting 20mph speed limits to improve safety and quality of life. Young children and cyclists stand to benefit most if speed limits in residential roads in our area were reduced to 20mph.

Streets with a 20mph speed limit have less traffic noise, lower emissions and 40% fewer road casualties, improving road safety especially for young children.

I’m calling for 20mph limits on Brunswick Street and the roads off it, resulting in lowers speeds without the need for traffic calming.

Combined with investment into improved cycle facilities in the borough, 20mph limits can improve road safety while encouraging more local residents to get on their bikes.
