Letter to the paper: General Election

by James Moore on 25 April, 2017

I have today sent this letter to the Reading Chronicle:

Dear Editor,

As we await the General Election on the 8th June, the clock is still ticking towards a hard Brexit, supported by Theresa May and Jeremy Corbyn.

Their version of Brexit does nothing to unify a divided country with vitriol and distrust between the 48% and the 52% growing day by day.

Their hard Brexit continues to split the UK asunder and takes us down a dangerous path of isolation; the determination to pull us out of the Single Market before we have even begun discussions is ludicrous.

These negotiations will be some of the most complex to ever take place – they may exceed the two year window the Treaties allowed and they will require skill and compromise.

If the Prime Minister goes in all guns blazing I am afraid we will end up with the very worst thing for all of us: industry, trade and the NHS: no deal at all.

If you care for the future of our country, vote for tolerance, openness and against a Hard Brexit: Vote Liberal Democrats on the 8th June.

Yours,

James Moore
Chair, Reading Liberal Democrats
